‘Playing for Keeps’ Film Review

‘Playing for Keeps’ is a light-hearted, romantic comedy that will make any woman fall in love with Gerard Butler.

Butler’s character, George, was a Scottish soccer super-star in the 1990’s. He was living the dream with fame, fortune, and a loving wife and son. Fast forward to 2012 and all of these things are gone. His popularity with the ladies did in his marriage to Stacie (Jessica Biel) and the bad economy mixed with some bad investments did him in financially.

Stacie is now engaged to be married to nice guy Matt (James Tupper) which makes George realize that he may lose her forever. George wants to prove to Stacie and his son, Lewis (Noah Lomax) that he can be a good father so he agrees to Coach Lewis’s soccer team. Not only does George quickly become an idol to the boys on the team, the soccer moms also notice George and begin following him around town.

George realizes he has nothing else to lose and decides to grow up and fight for his family. George proves that he sincerely wants to change his life for the better. Stacie struggles with her decision between Matt and George, wanting to give her son the best life possible.

Blair Stover gives this movie 4 stars and says it’s perfect for soccer moms, married and single.
